New Alarms and a cool colored LMB

I finally got my new Fox Micron Eos bite alarms in Tuesday. Been waiting forever to upgrade the old alarms (shitty BFS alarms I got for 15 bucks each) and i finally did it. They are really sweet. I have only fished them for a short 1 hour trip to check to see if they worked  and I love them already.

I plan on fishing them tomorrow at the Cliffs or the Trinity Swag swim. I want to get into a few carp or buffs. It's been a while.

I went to the Library today and got this LMB on a little 3 inch craw on a jighead. I don't know what causes these black spots (I've heard it's stress) but this fish sure has a lot of them.

I have a pretty full week ahead. Going down to Austin to pick up my new kayak this week. I'm getting a Diablo Chupacabra (finally something other than my little emotion. I might still keep it but I don't know when I would fish it. Whatever.

Trinity Swag

I fished a new pond I found on Google Earth today and caught one blue cat. This place is smack between California Crossing and the Lewisville Dam on the Elm Fork of the Trinity.

This may be my new favorite spot. Not only does it look great, but I heard that there are huge gar and some carp in here. I'm putting in my kayak as soon as I can to figure out the whole
deal about this place.

If you guys haven't already heard I got hurt. I dislocated and sprained my knee on tuesday. It sucks. I can't bend my knee and it's hard to walk. Well, it hasn't kept me from fishing so I'm still doing it. I hope I can actually get a carp tomorrow instead of blanking like I have been. oh well...

creek day

Wanted to check out my creek this week. I caught a few little Green sunfish Bluegill hybrids. The water was cold and the fish were lethargic. But, I saw a Golden Redhorse! I almost never see suckers down in the creek, so this was a pretty special day

I got the 2 little ones I caught on a blue Theo's Bomber from Millers Fly Shop (thanks Jonathan!)

Yesterday was my Birthday! the sucky thing is I was sick almost all day and I'm home sick now. Been in bed all day and i hope to get back out to the creek  tonight once I shake this off

BUT i'm going to pick out my new camera tomorrow- a Nikon D3000. Finally a good camera!

Rough Creek!

Rough Creek was awesome as always, but I had a great trip this time!
Caught at least 200 crappie, Mostly on Lake Fork Live Baby Shads on my hand poured heads.

Great hunt, even with it being in the 30s that morning, We shot 5 pheasant, 7 Chukars, and 39 Quail

Biggest bass of the trip was only 6lbs. I forgot to weigh it with the bait in the mouth so it was more like 7

Jonathan came on Friday- the best day by far. I got at least 30 crappie and a few bass. I caught on a Briminator and an Electric Blue North Fork Nymph

We got out on a boat about half through the day

We were about to go to the paluxy and then Dad suggested we go to another pond on the Rough Creek property. It was 100% worth it. First cast- 2lb crappie! topwater action on the Sage Largemouth! For Comparison- the handle of the largemouth is 7 inches. That's a 15.5 inch crappie!

Then another one right at 2.3!

Best we could have wished! I got 4 crappie all over 2lbs and 1 2lb bass.

Jonathan got a bunch too. I'll post a link to his blog entry whenever he posts it. all the better pics are on his camera.

Went back today, I got 2 bass. The biggest was a little under 3lbs

Had some visitors come over to see what I was catching.

The fly- a black and red Flaming Hooker

Awesome landscape- Cactus and Prarie Grass

Monday and Tuesday

I fished the secret spot on Monday and got 2 Buffalo. Only got a picture of one, but it was a really cool goldish color
Then I moved to Andy Brown Park and got a bunch of bluegill and a few bass on a sz 14 gold bead hares ear. Lot of fun on a 2wt

Then Jonathan and I fished the Library pond until dark. I got 5 or 6 bass on a Morrish Mouse.

Tuesday I got up early and went to the drain. I tied a little black zonker pattern. It worked! I got 6 bass then 1 at the library before I went home.
